What are Clo and Rcf?
Clo (Clothing Insulation Value): A unit to measure thermal insulation. 1 Clo ≈ the insulation provided by a typical business suit at 21℃, 50% RH, with still air.
Higher Clo = better warmth retention.
Reference examples: A light summer outfit (short-sleeve shirt with shorts) typically provides about 0.3–0.4 Clo, while a thick winter down jacket usually falls between 0.5–0.7 Clo.
Rcf (Relative Clo Factor / Resistance per unit thickness): Indicates how effective the insulation is per unit thickness.
Helps compare materials of different thickness fairly.
Higher Rcf = more efficient insulation per cm thickness.
