Test Results

Test Basis Weight: 100 gsm

Water Absorption: <1% (ASTM C1104 Standard)

Sample ACME Insulation Competitor Brand
Basis Weight 100 gsm 100 gsm
Thickness 0.08 cm 0.2 cm
Clo. 0.52 0.40
Rcf 0.081 0.062

What are Clo and Rcf?

Clo (Clothing Insulation Value): A unit to measure thermal insulation. 1 Clo ≈ the insulation provided by a typical business suit at 21℃, 50% RH, with still air.

  • Higher Clo = better warmth retention.
  • Reference examples: A light summer outfit (short-sleeve shirt with shorts) typically provides about 0.3–0.4 Clo, while a thick winter down jacket usually falls between 0.5–0.7 Clo.

Rcf (Relative Clo Factor / Resistance per unit thickness): Indicates how effective the insulation is per unit thickness.

  • Helps compare materials of different thickness fairly.
  • Higher Rcf = more efficient insulation per cm thickness.

Interpretation: In the test results above, ACME Insulation shows Clo 0.52 and Rcf 0.081, while the competitor shows Clo 0.40 and Rcf 0.062. → This means ACME's insulation provides both better overall warmth and higher efficiency per thickness.

PP Insulation Cotton – FAQ

Focus on thermal efficiency, durability, environmental safety, installation flexibility, and custom specifications. Samples and third-party test data are available.
What is the difference between PP insulation cotton and traditional glass wool or rock wool?
PP insulation cotton is a melt-blown polymer fiber material—dust-free, non-irritating, lightweight, and recyclable. In contrast, glass wool or rock wool is heavier, moisture-absorbent, and requires protective gear during installation.
How effective is the thermal insulation performance?
In the 100 gsm sample test, the Clo value is 0.52 and Rcf is 0.081, indicating higher thermal efficiency per thickness. Increasing basis weight or thickness further improves insulation performance.
Is the material moisture-resistant or mold-resistant?
Yes. The PP fibers are hydrophobic, providing excellent moisture resistance and preventing mold growth. For high-humidity applications, a vapor-permeable or waterproof layer is recommended.
Can it be used for clothing or wearable products?
Yes. The material is soft, breathable, and lint-free—commonly used in jacket linings or industrial cold-protection garments. It supports heat pressing, sewing, and lamination with fabrics.
Does it meet fire safety or environmental regulations for building use?
Complies with RoHS and REACH requirements. Flame-retardant formulations are available upon request. Please confirm your application scenario during quotation to select the proper grade.
What are the common application areas?
Widely used in:
・Building wall and roof insulation
・Refrigeration and pipeline thermal protection
・Automotive interior sound and heat insulation
・Clothing, sleeping bags, and footwear insulation layers
Can thickness or width be customized?
Yes. Thickness range: 0.2 – 2.0 mm; width: 20 – 160 cm. Supports slitting, sheet cutting, or custom roll lengths. We can also suggest optimal GSM and thickness based on your required thermal resistance.
Can it be laminated with other materials?
Yes. It supports composite structures with materials such as cotton padding, PET film, or nonwoven fabrics—for example, “PP insulation cotton + padding” for combined thermal and mechanical strength.
How is product consistency and batch quality controlled?
Each batch can include a test report with inspection on basis weight, thickness, and absorption rate.
Third-party testing or custom AQL standards can be arranged upon request during quotation.
What are the MOQ, sampling, and lead time?
Samples of various GSMs are available for testing. Standard MOQ: 2,000 – 10,000 m². Typical lead time is 3 – 5 weeks; special thicknesses or FR grades may require custom scheduling.
